We did see a swimming bear up there (was probably trying to get away from the mosquitoes).

Beautiful cruising area!

I've seen bears swimming while out touring in the dinghy and watched a moose swimming and then heading up onto shore onto the island while having my morning coffee in the cockpit.

I was thinking the bears must have been on vacation if they interrupted their dinghy tour to go swimming. Must have been fun watching them get back IN the dinghy.

OMG! Thank you so very much to all for the informative and enticing info. We wrote our question a few days ago and then ended up hunkered down in a slip in Mackinaw City due to unbelievable bad weather. Tomorrow after 3 days with all 4 corners spring off maybe the front with rain, fog and high winds will be lifting. All part of it I guess. Thank goodness for unlimited data and Netflix.....hopefully we are a few days away from Canadian water heaven.....

The water levels are very high this year so it is a great year to go. The extra length tie-up lines are very useful for small bays and the Bustards as many of the bottoms are scoured rock. The chain will hold if you have lots. There are many small bays with full 360 degree protection. If you have the shallow keel you could even make it through the truly cherished and rarely transited Collins Inlet. I have made it through in a high water year with 4.5 foot draft. Water levels are almost 2 feet higher this year than the year I went through. the biggest boat I saw beyond my own was 18 feet long. Check it out and enjoy. The trickiest part of the navigation for us was around Britt, so follow your guidebook well.

The moose was having your morning coffee, while swimming? Talented moose. Did you have more to brew a pot for yourself? :)
The real question is whose p'jays was the moose wearing while drinking his coffee.?
