H34 owners, Tired of the heavy rain backing up in your boat from the channel that the hatch cover slides on, I was... So I made a hatch cover from some sunbrella fabric using snap buttons and studs. As you can see in the pictures I used the existing screws that hold down the sea hood. They had to be ground around to fit in the snap stud. I used 3 screws on each side. The only holes I had to put in the boat were at the foot of the companionway. I used pre made screw studs there. At the very top I had velcro sewed into the material. Very easy to make and no more water in the boat.

Looks just like mine. Hey where is mine? :) We found water would continue to pool in the center so we took a piece of swimming pool noodle and leave it under the cover so it tents it a bit and allows the water to run off. Sure is nice to keep that water out. Good job.

great job ! looks very good.........

I did one for our 356 for use when the boat is on the hard. It is designed to keep the sun off the hatchboards and keep any rain out in a tropical storm as we will not have the dodger up then.

I used the existing snaps along the horizontal surfaces, and sewed a 3 lb "sausage" of sand into a sleeve in the bottom seam to keep it snug as there were no snaps along the companionway vertical side surfaces.

I over-sized the edges to provide a good overlap.

I added a D-ring with some webbing right in the middle of the top panel and we fit a bungee cord on that and up to the dodger frame to keep any water from pooling........

We have also used ours if backed into a slip in a busy marina to provide us with some privacy because of the Plexiglas panels or if we are keeping the hatch boards out. The "sand sausage" allows us to easily enter or exit the boat without having to use any snaps.
