I hate those big clunky cockpit tables. But I am married to a woman who really wants one. Can someone suggest where I can locate a nonwood easy to remove table (when we race) that costs less than $500.00? Thanks

look at mine

$25 from IKEA.... It's not teak but it is hardwood. It'll look even better when I'm done with the finish. See the pic...oops-sorry about the finger.

Snap It

is a nationwide company that is located about 20 miles from me. Their products are sold by West Marine and Boat/US. I worked with Mike Catchings who is one of the owners and had a special table made for my 35.5. You might check and see if they are on the web and what their current product line is. My table is a small table without the swing out leaves.

just made one this winter

Sorry, I don't have a picture. I just took it to the boat yesterday. I got a laminated 3' * 4' * 1" board at Home Depot (not plywood) and cut out a top that fits the space I have in the cockpit. At the aft end of the table top, I cut 2 notches that align with the vertical supports on my "Snap-IT" drink holders. The top slides onto, and sits on the bottom of the drink holder (so it can still be used for drinks). It is secured by 2 SS pins that drop holes drilled thru the table top and drink holder. On the forward end, I mounted a bannister baluster (Home Depot again) cut to the right length to keep the table top level. It is mounted on hinges so that when not in use, the leg swings up against the bottom of the table and is held in place by a SS spring clip (boaters world). I routed the edges of the top, put on some stain, and a bunch of coats of polyurethane and it looks and works great. This word picture may be a little confusing but if you want further info, let me know your e-mail address and I'll get a photo the next trip to the boat. Bill Total cost about $20. When not in use it takes up less space than my hatch boards.

Ikea is a marine supplier

I was going to make one out of birch plywood, to match the cabin table. Now I am thinking of going to Ikea! JC w

We use the one Joe has

We have used the fold up one in Joe's picture on our P42 for many years. Ours stows on the front of the wheel when it is folded and is great at anchor and cocktail time.

Table

Just ordered an Edson cockpit table from Defender. White marine grade polymer, attaches to the pedestal (no drilling) and folds down when not in use. Price recently went up to about $170 plus shipping. Page 105 in the catalog. www.defender.com

Barry: Originaly, I built the table set up with oak but got sick of varnishing it so I then converted to Starboard. The unit consists of a drink holder and binnocular holder and two removable tables. One is small snack table and the other one will seat 6 people. Both are removable. I think I spent less than $25 on the whole setup and any handy man could make it inside of an hour. Send me your Email address and I'll forward a couple of pictures. My address is yankee3223@juno.com Don Guillette
