Hey guy's
I just got a hunter 22 1985 model i was wanting to clean the boat up any ideas on how to take the dullness or chalky look off the deck?

Try compounding the hull or look at products like Island Girl.

If these do not work, you can look at some of the acrylic finishes.

I was going to just wash it first and didnt know what was best to try some said bleach but that seems harsh

If the hull is covered with mold/mildew/algae a couple of cups of beach in the hot soapy water is a good idea.

The chalkiness is from the gelcoat breaking down in sunlight. The outer layer gets porous and dull and can get to the point your hands get white from just wiping the surface. Steve's suggestions are good. You'll have to wash it thoroughly then possibly compound/wax the 'normal' areas. Don't wax the non-skid! Island Girl products are good but pricey. i think just a good cleaning first the boat was outside on a trailor but was covered the old owner took great care of her but waxing the sides is ok?

Sure, hull sides and other vertical surfaces

in the cockpit and cabin top is fine.

ok well i gave it a good cleaning the sides above the water line look like it needs to be buffed out and waxes what are your thoughts?
