Hi all: My plan is to circle the marble. I have done a lot of reading and have 3 years of sailing (Catalina 27 on Lake Ontario). I am very interested in hearing from folks who have circumnavigated the globe, particularly in terms of what boats I should look for and which ones I should steer clear of (i.e., are not "blue water" capable). Please send me your ideas, concerns, suggestions, etc. on boat qualifications. I am going to make the voyage. It is only a question of which boat to make it on. Maybe your tip will help. you might read books by Lin and Larry Pardy's. Or buy the best boat your money can buy and you can sail your self if that is what you are going to do.

another book for you...

John Vigor's "Twenty Small Boats to Take You Anywhere" Guess which boat is rated 20th on the safety factor?(hint Cat 27 tall rig)... The fact that the C27 even made this list is amazing. BTW, Bristol Channel Cutter 28 is rated #1 and often called the Rolls Royce of yachts(small ones, anyway) What's your budget?
