Choosing a windlass

I want to fit an electric windlass to my C30. Has anyone any advice or comments. I'm not sure which to go for, vertical or horizontal.

I have an electrical 800 Maxwell on my 380. That would be definite overkill on a 30. On some of the 36s in our fleet, guys have mounted manual horizonal windlasses. They work absolutely great and there is no need of running any wires and therefore less apt to fail....good luck

i have a horizontal electric installed in my anchor locker. it is great. put a couple of wraps on the line and push the button with my foot and up it comes. lets youy not dread anchoring the next time and therefore save your back and life by not putting enough scope out.
