My current navigation setup on Tula my 39 foot Beneteau is:1. Dell D505 Laptop at the nav station2. Old V4.1 Nobeltec on the laptop - really like it;3. Full CHS Paper Charts of Canadian waters4. Old Garmin 12XL GPS (removeable)and Garmin 120 GPS (fixed) (discontinued) at the helm as backup latter from former owner.5. Autohelm ST50 (?) and Raymarine radar (rarely use) from former ownerNeeds:1. Plan voyages at home in Calgary, plot courses, print planbooks and colour chart sections, marina contacts, emergency contacts and take slim 3-ring binder with me to the boat. Sail 50 days a year for now. In two years may live onboard and will venture further afield beyond the Gulf Islands/Southern BC.2. Have an easily readable chartplotter at the helm. 3. Do not break the bank. I find the GPSmap 76c great but a little hard to read.4. For now just need charts around Vancouver Island.I have been reviewing hardware/software setups and is this confusing or what!! Garmin will not let me use/see a good demo of MapSource but it apparently does not match Nobeltec. This proprietary thing is not good.I am confused as to where to go. Peter
