I have 4 group 24 12 volt deep cycle batteries on my 27 catalina,and my charger charges at 10 amps once started then decreases durning charging. I would like to keep these batteries charged durning the next few months and I am wondering how long and how much I should charge these battiers. currently I am charging 1 hour every5 days. is this too much or too little? thanks for your advise.

kb It really depends on the type of charger you have. It appears from your description that you may have an old ferroresonant unit, which will end up killing your batteries. I suggest you check the West Matine Advisor or other technical resources and read up on new charger technology, called three stage smart charging. Then find out if your charger is the right type. If not, most people of ditched their old ferros, and purchased new Statpower / Truecharge / Xantrex units. Also try a search in these archives under those product names or battery charging.
