Changing Transmission fluid

I've got a 86 TR with the M25 motor. I'd like to change the transmission fluid but cannot see an easy way to do it. I've got the suction tank so I think I can get the fluid out but do not see a way of getting access to put fluid back in. Also in checking the level I cannot find anything concrete in the owners manual about where the level should be. The dip stick has a line near the bottom and a small hole near the top. Right now the level is in between the two so I can't figure out which is correct. Thanks Tim

I think you're fine

I've read my M-25xp manual and i think the level must be at the line. There is a screw at the bottom of the tranny where you can drain it, but there is no easy way to catch the fluid. If you find a way, let me know.

Tim, The fluid needs to be at the line with the dip stick unthreaded. To drain you need to cut the end off of a plastic gallon container (like a anti-freeze bottle) and place it under the drain plug. The transmission hold 1.3 pints so you may have to put the plug back in once to totally drain it. To fill, you need a SMALL funnel with a flexable end (or do what I do and empty half of the new fluid into a clean jar and then fill the transmission from the quart container. When full, pour the balance of the fluid back into the original container. Best, Denny Fegan
