I have just installed the larger "upgraded" chain plates on my 27. My question is what is the recommended caulk/sealer to use on the plate and through deck bolts? I assume something flexible is a logical choice and I know marine caulk generally hardens. Is marine silicone appropriate?

Caulk

Use a polysulfide caulk. Do not mistake polyeurethane for polysulfide. Polyeurethane will form a very hard bond and will make removal of the hardware later impossible. Silicone is not a good choice, as it will not last.
