I replaced mine 2 years ago. Rudy at D&R Marine sells a 5/16" polyester double braid (New England Sta-Set) pendant spliced to a nice quality narrow long SS shackle, nicer looking than the one Sunbird pictures. The shackle is just a long enough throat to fit on the centerboard, and pivot slightly.
I don't know how difficult it will be to get that line fed either up or down, because the pendant goes through the curved tube under the companionway steps. When I did mine, I used the existing pendant as a messenger. I replaced it because I didn't know how old it was and if I should trust it or not. I didn't see up into the trunk, because we had it on a lift with a pit for the centerboard to go down. Since the line wasn't frayed, I'm assuming that I do have the sheave that is in there. Others have not had the sheave and have had to replace it (I think on a 222.)
