Furler very difficult to operate. have to use the winch. The peeps at CDI said to dissassemble and check the head stay for failure. Others, have you had any issues with the FF2? how did you resolve? Thanks, Eric

Eric,

Almost any furler has the ability to unwind the headstay. Heed their advice and check out your forestay. If you are trying to furl in a downwind sheets tight situation, your need to revise your method of furling. Head up and keep slight pressure ( your will fight the sheet pressure while furling.) on the sheets while furling. r.w.landau

halyard wrap

I had a problem with halyard wrap around the top of the furler with my harken. Does CDI have an internal? Top of foil kept getting caught on the line. Needed to ad a halyard restrainer. Agree with R.W. to check the headstay. AS always, landau is well reasoned and insightful. m

Two things to check

I have the same unit. Check the furling line going in so that it isn't riding up .Then you might want to check the turnbuckle inside and make sure it isn't binding

Thanks you

Thank you for the responses. Yesterday, while at work, I called (may as well give them a plug) Noank Shipyard to arrange for a rigger to repair my CDI Flexible Furler. We made an appointment, then the gentleman helping me asked several questions. I have been a Hank on Dingy sailer until last season mind you. I had heard of backstay and halyard tension before as it relates to ease of furling, but didn't put all the info together until talking to the NS guy. Today my son and I went down to the boat, and in lierally 15 minutes had adjusted everything for effortless furling. It was the poor tuning that was causing all the troulbe. In retrospect, I would have been embarassed to have a rigger see my rig. all is well now, and again thank you for the help. Eric
