Does anyone kn ow if the boom on a 1982 Catalina 30 will twist . I am installing a Boomkicker and the boom cannot twist

My boom twists a little to the left. I heard that Bill Clinton had the same condition ... also it might have something to do with being right-handed.

Please try explaining your question it makes no sense to me.... Why would you want your boom to bend or twist? The boom kicker or a rigid Vang is just to keep the boom from dropping on someones head or dropping to the deck suddenly and doing damage when main halyard is released. Along with the obvious of keeping boom from lifting up and catching on the back stay during a jibe, accidental or otherwise.
If you read boom kicker instalation instructions the say to make sure boom does not rotate at gooseneck and I hear older 30's no rotate
They are probably referring to an old style furling boom, where the boom was rotated, winding up the mainsail using a winch handle at the gooseneck for stowing or reefing.
This was an old system found on vintage boats that was dropped because it didn't perform as desired. There is a remake of this sytem with a cover over the boom and I don't see how this could be much better.

Every boom can twist. Just make sure you don't apply too much tension or you may end up tearing your mainsail leech
