I am looking at Catalina 30 vs 320. Does anyone have experience as to which is the stiffer/more stable boat for sailing in coastal waters? Replies appreciated.

I'm not sure

exactly what you mean by "stiffer" or "more stable." If you mean less heeling, I doubt that there is any appreciable difference between the C30 and C320. You can make any boat heel less by falling off the wind and/or reefing the sails. If you are buying new, go for a furling main system. It allows easy infinite reefing under sail from the cockpit, so you can adjust quickly to changing wind conditions and keep everyone onboard happy. Hope this helps.

c30 vs c320

I've never sailed a 30 but we have a 2001 320 and it sails great. Easiest boat I've ever sailed. Very stable. We had it out in 30 kts with 8 to 10 foot seas...no problems. We're leaving wednesday for a 4 week trip from North Myrtle Beach to Jacksonville, FL. and took it on a 600 mile trip last summer. Great boat.

I also have never sailed a 30 cat but own a 320. You have to consider displacement, the 320 wieghs almost 12,000 lbs!I sailed her 30 miles the day after a Hurricane came thru West coast Florida in 25 kt winds and she is as stable as could be..If stability is a high requirement for you the 320 will be more stable.
