I had a leak in my Stbd chain plates (since fixed) but it ruined the teak plywood in my starboard bookshelf. The horizontal part of the shelf is delaminated. I'd love to hear where I can get a replacement. Catalina said it could take a long time and might have to be custom made. Looking for any ideas as to how to repair .... or maybe someone has one they've removed from a 1988 (or similar) Catalina 30 MKII and would be willing to sell. All suggestions welcomed. Regards, Gary Kunkel

you have several options

First is there anything on your current boat you would be willing to do without(ie shelf under sink) you may be able to find some matching wood that will go un-noticed. Where your damage is is right in the middle of the main salon. If you cannot find something to sacrafice, then got to a boatyard to find a piece of marine ply. The trick will be the stain/finish. There are a bunch of finish tints available a homedepot. As small as that shelf is a slight mismatch will not be noticed. Another option is a white formica shelf. You would have to do the other matching one on the other side. This would prevent the same thing when the chainplates leak again. just my 2 cents. The catalina opiton is there but that option is up to you.

Stain to Match

Gary, If you do end up going the teak ply route, the stain that matches the rest of the teak trim is Minwax Red Oak.
