Ok, so this is your first boat. I think most of us here would agree that after 5 years you'll probably be ready for a different boat. My suggestion: Buy an mid to late 80s C30 for under $35,000, learn to sail it, cruise it on the lake and learn all you can about all different boats. By the time you move to FL you may decide that you'll sell the C30 & get something else when you move. This would be opposed to buying a newer 32 for more money & finding the same thing out. Now don't get me wrong, I think the C30 would work fine for your prospective needs, making sure that you keep weather in mind & that a C30 is not really made for very heavy weather (ie: hurricanes) although I'm sure some have come out relatively unscathed. Know that slightly older Catalinas really hold their value. You probably won't get exactly what you paid for it but if you got it for a sweet deal, you just might.Good luck!LaDonna
