Hi - I am preparing to purchase a 1993 Catalina 270 and am planning on storing it on our 8000 pound lift. Right now we have a 22' deck boat on it, sitting on two carpeted beams. The current owner has it on a lift, with one wide beam and tall pads supporting the hull and keeping it balanced. The person who installed out boat said that we have to verify that the hull is rated to hold at least 75% of the total weight of the boat. I asked about the possibility of using two beams with pads holding the weight on the hull, rather than having most of the weight on the keel (wing keel, by the way), and he said that I would have to call Catalina to see the specifications and requirements. Any suggestions??
OK- just talked to a very nice man in the Largo offices- and it appears that the keel will support the load on the lift.
Thanks,
Sue
