Catalina 27 thumper info.

I have been looking at a 1984 catalina 27 to purchase named Thumper. I decided to check the registry as to who's name it is registered under .

It is in the Vancouver B.C. Canada area.

Apparently the R.C.M.P. can't even obtain that information unless they have a warrant .

The vessel has some unusual problems such as the main sail halyard has been cut and pulled out , cockpit seat lids won't close , mainsail has 3 tears in it . Lots of growth on the bottom and no OB engine .

It has a large after market engine support on the port side . I read some info on a catalina 27 with the name Thumper having had one manufactured and installed on a boat named Thumper on this forum .

I'd like to get some history on Thumper as to who it may have been sold to and if it had any mishaps .The present owner is pretty vague or just doesn't know.

It needs new sails ,halyards , engine , haulout ,etc. Other than that it doesn't appear to be in too bad a condition .

Have you tried calling Catalina Yachts in Woodland Hills Ca? They seem to keep all of the old records.

I found out that the PO committed suicde by shooting himself in the woods. This after forging $35K in checks from his daughter. He was the Marina manager on a lake near Butler, PA. I wish I hadn't found that out. Now when I look at the neglect the suffered I can't help but imagine the pain he went through. At times it cast a pall on the boat.

PA seems to be a long way from Vancouver B.C. Canada or Washington state .

Never know but strange things happen .
