We just put our '81 Catalina 22 in the water, but have not gotten the boom and running rigging set up yet. I've sailed a good bit but never owned my own boat, so I never had to do this initial set up. Specifically we need a visual of how the gooseneck attaches to the boom, and how to rig the outhaul and Cunningham. We bought a new boom vang since she came without one, but I don't know how to rig it. I have not been able to find a simple diagram of all the running rigging, even in the C22 nat'l association downloads of the original owner's manual. Their technical manuals are a collection of modifications. And, shockingly, nothing on YouTube! Help please!

How you attach might be very boat specific depending: but excellent diagrams at harken (albeit generic). Basic requirement is a boom bail and the bail on the foot of the mast.

Edited for close up of my Cunningham-- used the same fiddle / block as the boomvang attached on the other side of an angled reef hook and a bow shackle through the eye of the fiddle block.

Please let us know if you found anything! I'm in the same boat (ha ha) as you were! Easy to find info on lots of interesting tweaks but harder to find the basics.
The diagrams in the 1987 Owners Manual, the CatalinaDirect descriptions for their parts, and this thread below ("attaching the boom leads to more questions") are probably the most helpful resources that I've found so far.

We've been using Tom's "external tethered" gates for quite some time. We love them, they are flawless. At first I was suspicious of the plastic rivets and thin shock cord, but the suspicion wore off as the years went by. And you will never do business with a better man than Tom Luque. Nice...
