I'm assuming that Chris is right in that by a Universal 10, you mean a 5411. Anyway, the stock installation with raw water cooling (meaning that the raw, seawater is pumped directly through your engine as coolant) is a bypass system. This means that as your engine warms up, most of the water is pumped through your engine and, after exiting the block, is diverted back to the intake hose at the seacock. This pre-warms the incoming water, assisting in your engine warm up. Once your engine warms up, the thermostat re-directs more of the water through the exhaust. The upshot of all this is that your boat will have very little water coming out of the exhaust after start-up, and even after warming up, will have less coming out than other boats. Do not be concerned, this is normal. What you will also notice is a fair amount of steam under certain conditions. Do not be concerned, this is normal. Well-meaning observers will call to you and point to your exhaust, thinking that you've forgotten to open your seacock. Sometime they may be right, so don't ignore them, but most of the time, all is OK. So, after checking, politely thank them and proceed on your way.
