I'm getting ready to reseat the bow pulpit on my 1984 Catalina 27, and remove the silicon smeared on by the PO. And probably replace the bulkhead forward of the v-berth. It appears the inside nuts on the pulpit fasteners are very hard to get to. Any good advice from someone who has undertaken this project before i dig in?

If your 27 is anything like my 30, I would strongly suggest finding someone with long and skinny arms to reach the aftermost nuts on the port side. The others are not too bad. But, you should definitely tie the ratchet handle to your wrist. If you drop it, it's a ***** to get at it to get it back. :cussing::cussing::cussing:

Other than that.......it's a breeze.

Good luck. I had to replace two of them.

My biggest recommendation is to get one of those small battery powered 1/4" impact drivers (Bosch, Makita) with a deep socket set. It might not be able to get on all those fasteners, but it will make fast work spinning off most of them and minimize the contorting time.

We did it twice! on a tall rig, not sure what yours is, we re bedded all the deck hardware ,life lines posts and bow pulpit too.
OK first take the anchor locker door off if you have this I am sure you do, and get it out of your way, next at least on the tall rig the stupid bolts that come down from the bow pulpit are in the way of the port and starboard side bots that hold the back of the bow sprit so you have to start both and end up cutting and re threading if you use new hardware!
Get a rug or something soft to lay on you will need it! I had my son use the power shooter top side while I laid on my back up side down with a wrench in side it worked use good BUYTL tape and good stuff not caulk,
Ours leaked after re bedding!!!! I went crazy !!!! as I was sore from the crazy position I had to lay in to do job we pulled ours to find the bedding job was perfect! We re installed the bow pulpit and did the water test to find the water was leaking down the bow lights electric lines as ours is on the bow pulpit and wires run in side thru the anchor locker bulk head wall passage way, re caulked and no more leaks!
