Care of Water Tank

Just got my Catalina 30 1991. The first owner travled considerable. The second onwer did not have the vessel very long (1-2 years). I don't know what condition the fresh water storage tanks are in. So my question is where should I go to discover what I need to to allow me to check and clean the tank.?ThanksJames

cleaning water tank

We use our C-30 year 'round, but leave the water tank empty whenever lying idle for a week or more. Don't store stale water. Each spring, shock treat the tanks and all plumbing with a hefty amount of bleach added to first several gallons; pump through all lines until empty; then partially fill and rinse with clear water until empty at least three times or until no more chlorine taste. No "tank taste" to our water, ever.
