Care of Seat Cushions

The interior seat cushions on my '82 C30 were replaced two years by the previous owner. They are foam covered with a crushed velvet material on top and vinyl on the bottom. I belive they were purchased from Catalina.Can I unzip the covers and throw them in the washing machine? Is is O.K. to use Scotchguard on them? There are no care instruction labels.Thanks for any comments.David

Steam Cleaned

David,On other boats I have washed the interior cushions and have found that getting the foam back in can be very frustrating.With that previous experience in mind, last year when I decided to clean all the interior cushions I used the carpet steam clean we have for our house. Our steam cleaner has a hand-held attachment for cleaning furniture. Great results and very easy! I also do not see a problem with scotch guard.Tim
