I'm a new owner with an A4, a sailor with little experience working on engines. The inboard is running great, and I hope to keep it that way. Are there any books out there on the care and feeding of the Atomic Four that you'd recommend?

Atomic 4

Here is a great web site for all kind of information regarding the Atomic Bomb engine. I have used the site often including carb. rebuild and replacement of the mechanical fuel pump. I hope it helps. http://www.geocities.com/cptinrn/ Sean

Atomic 4 Resources

There are 2 other sources of help; several engine manuals are also available: * Old Lyme Marine, Old Lyme, CT: 860-434-1272 = They're on the Net somewhere and purport to be the biggest A4 dealer in the country. You can buy the A4 manual as well as spares and parts with overnight shipping. * Moyer Marine, Harrisburg, PA: On the Net - I can't find the URL in my collection. He is the "A4 Guru" and also sells parts. The A4 is actually a pretty easy engine for us "mechanically challenged" types (I'm a lawyer not a mechanic though the Army tried to teach me things mechanical...) Last summer I actually "rebuilt" my carburetor using a kit Old Lyme Marine sold me. Just get greasy....

Atomic Four

The atomic fouris th same engine willys jeep used from 194 to 1963. This fact helped me so much finding parts without the "marine" mark-up

Aloha Moyar Marine has a book out about the atomic 4 and Seacraft Publications also. Both will tell you everything you need to know.
