Add Support to the transom
I have a Honda 5hp 4stroke on the original swingup motor bracket on my H22. I added two 1"by4"by24" boards on the inside of the transom for added support. Then, using longer bolts, bolted the bracket to the transom, then through the wood. I also used extra large washers. It seems to hold very well. With the extra support the transom can't bow in or out.I also keep the motor on the bracket when I am trailering it, I just secure the bracket in the "up" position and secure it to a eye bolt that I have coming out near the top of the transom. I think that my 5hp 4stroke probably weighs about the same as a 7.5hp 2stroke,that the owner's manual says is the right motor for the boat.Mark
