Based on the list you provided, and based on the fact that I know it's port was San Diego, it could be the one below except that the issue date below was 2006, and this boat has been out of the water for 10 years. Also, in that picture the boat looks a lot bigger than 33.6, and the owner claims that there is so much room inside that the first owner had a Grand Piano in there. No way a Grand Piano could fit on a 33.6. Don't ask me what a Grand Piano was doing on a boat, but I'm thinking it was once used to entertain back in the 70's-80's

Maybe that list of "Connies" is only the ones currently listed while ours has probably been expired 10 years.

Mac,

The above gives owners name. Do you have name of current seller?

It has neat shape. Can you post more pictures? This is appropriate for this time of year when some have more time to read.

Also, do you any inside pictures?

The Craig's list post is expired. Did it give contact? email address? yard web site?

Did you measure deck? I have cheap 100' tape measure for measuring halyards and such that would give quick estimate on real length.

Again, we all would like more info.

Hi ShoalDrafter,

Yes, I can give the owner's info because he really just wants this boat off his land. He owns the land, and had allowed the previous boat owner to store it on his land, but now the boat has been abandoned for several years and it is free to a good home.

The land owner is named Vic and you can reach him at: 619-742-4755
If you talk to him, please ask him if one of the previous owner was CHARLES R SEATON. If he says "yes", then this mystery is solved, and we know our boat is:
http://www.st.nmfs.noaa.gov/pls/webpls/cgv_pkg.vessel_id_list?vessel_id_in=1174870

Or, if you don't mind driving out to see the boat, it is located 40 minutes from San Diego, CA, at:
23108 Horizon View Drive, Potrero, CA. It is out in the middle of nowhere so use your GPS and when you get to the split in the road marked by a big rock carved into the shape of California, take the bend to the right.

Let me reprint what I had said in an earlier post so you know what to expect:
The owner said:
1) No engine
2) No mast or sails
3) No title
4) At least two cracks in the fiberglass, one in the hull, and one on the keel (and probably more than two). So this would only be worth it for someone who knows how to do their own fiberglass work.
5) A truck can be backed in to where it's located to pick it up.

If you talk to the owner and figure out what type of boat it is, please come back and tell us.

If the boat IS documented, then it will not have a title. But you have to get the current documented owner to re-assign ownership.

Back up a truck the guy says.... OK. Just don't forget your crane. A thousand bucks to load it, and $3/mile. Someone is going to deep into this long before they get it home.

Lead is going for a buck a pound. Easily 1000lbs there And it would chainsaw up into a very small pile of fiberglass.

If that boat was in Maryland, the land owner would have to go through the DNR proceedure to legally declare the boat abandoned and grant a title to the land owner. THEN the land owner could give it away or sell it. Without a title, it is not his boat to do with as he pleases. But maybe someone might steal it?

Try this boat

I'm trying to identify what this sailboat is. I'm told it is 65' long, but that is all I know. It looks like it's from the 70's or late 60's of fiberglass construction.

UPDATE: The owner said it may be 50' long instead (he's not sure), it is 20-30 years old and that it is named the "Connie". He said it was used as a Missionary Sailboat and that it does have a CG number (he doesn't know that that number is).

Let me say this. If he wants to give you the boat and $5,000, take the money and leave the boat.

The bow shape is similar. The Connie seems to have an extra tall cabin addition aft, but that is probably a custom cockpit covering maybe?

It is very possible that the Connie is a custom built one of a kind boat. Thanks for helping me try to figure it out. I have no interest in taking her, I just enjoy trying to figure out what she is.

Several people have commented that they wouldn't want Connie. I think it's more than obvious to everyone that she would be a bad deal for 90% of us.

But for that rare person who lives nearby who owns their own way of transporting her (or has connections) and enjoys fiberglassing, she may be the perfect project. Let's not forget that prices for one of the cheapest used 65' Sailboats in decent condition would start around $75,000 (for an early MacGregor 65' without pilothouse)

I think they used this as the take off for the hull mold:D

Oh and I found the line drawings to hang in the office at work...;);)

Being in California, just think of the joy someone will have in disposing of it per EPA regulations. Just quietly bulldoze it into a sand dune somewhere, pack dirt on top and plant a seaturtle sanctuary on the mound.

The angle of your picture may affect your perception of aft cabin.

A crane would not be nessary to put boat on trailer. She is quite high now. Many yards have hydralic trailers, but there is another way guys move boats.

There is already room under boat for heavy wood beams such as 4x4, 6x6 or 8x8. The big question to moving is estimate of length, width, and weight. That would determine trailer needed.

Yes the boat could be custom. However, that picture of the early Nautor resembles the hull. Under 50 a heavy duty boat trailer would work. But a flatbed trailier is more available.

It seems to be sitting on a couple of stands now. They could go on flatbed. Then for a trip of any distance, add new stands made out of heavy wood.

Is it worth fixing? I have learned that old hulls in good structural condition if otherwise suitable are worth the effort.

In boat building the single most expensive piece is the hull and deck. Then comes labor. In this case a mast and rigging.

Mac keeps referring to need glass work. Is that structural?

Also was this boat cored and with what if it was.

What the current hull offers is a large FRP hull already made.

It would probably take two years to rebuild from what the picture shows. Just might make a nice crusing boat at an affordable price tag.

In todays world, after rebuild it would offer opportunity to sail away...

Addendum:
“With all the talk about "disparities" in innumerable contexts, there is one very important disparity that gets remarkably little attention -- disparities in the ability to create wealth. People who are preoccupied, or even obsessed, with disparities in income are seldom interested much, or at all, in the disparities in the ability to create wealth, which are often the reasons for the disparities in income.” Thomas Sowell

Perhaps it was to be the sales office for a condo complex & new marina to be constructed - but it went bust?

A piano inside?! really ? Capt. Nemo Realty & Marina?

I understand the original London Bridge is out in the AZ desert - so its possible ;>

Here in Jersey we have the Margate Elephant- "Lucy" which was a realty office

You know, that kind of does look like it with the higher section in the back.
Which end is which? Any more photos?
Your looking at the bow in both photos. Here is another picture from the front view. At one time, the diesel engine was removed from the landing craft (It's sitting just behind the blue topped motor boat) and it was going to be put into this sailboat we're talking about, but then they sold the engine instead. All of these boats are free just like the sailboat.

Is there anyone brave enough to call the land owner (Vic 619-742-4755) and ask him if one of the previous owner was CHARLES R SEATON. If he says "yes", then this mystery is solved, and we know our boat is: http://www.st.nmfs.noaa.gov/pls/webp..._id_in=1174870
I would but I already asked him 20 questions on the phone knowing that I wasn't going to take the boat.

Are you thinking about acquiring this yacht? You need to wait until the two giraffes stick their heads out. Are you sure this pic wasn't taken on top of Mt. Ararat in Turkey?:D
