Could some early model 27 owners make some measurements from thier boats for me? I would like to know if their upper shrouds are centerline of their mast or slightly fwd. If you look in the photo forum you will see my problem. I really need help with this. At first glance from the dock mine looks fine until you really start looking.

Mine

I looked at mine (really just a glance) the other day, after looking at your pix, but they seemed ok. I'll do a more thorough exam this weekend & report back. LaDonna

What do you need?

I also have a full manual with all the "blueprints". Would be happy to copy and send if it helps. A '78 model, outboard, regular mast.

1 7/32 inches back

Our boat is a 1980 model, but should be similar. I have it laid up in the driveway with the mast down and ready for winter, so taking an accurate measurement was relatively simple. The shroud lines are set "back" from the leading edge of the mast "1 7/32 inches". This is forward of the centre of the mast. If required, I may be able to supply photo's. I won't have the tarps on for another 3 weeks, until then I'm quite willing to provide any additional measurements.

More?

After posting my reply to you, I found your photo's and compared them to my boat, I can't see any differance. I took the measurement I gave you by running string from one chain plate to the other and then measuring at the mast step. Is it possible your mast has a considerable rake forward, that makes it appear as if the shrouds are forward of the mast?
