Once in a while a north wind blows the water out of the Chesapeake, most often in winter.
Not a big deal for the multihulls.
Not a big deal for the multihulls.
And no tides. 
But winter sucks.

If you know of a marina in a major metropolitan area that rents a slip for $270/year, I'd sure like to hear about it
Not a major metro area, but the closest Chesapeake Bay harbor to Washington DC. About 2000 slips in the town of Deale, MD. Some of the marinas are very $$ and some are not. The Potomac river is obviously closer, but it's not a sailor's choice.
$3.50 per foot per month. But yes, it can be shallow.
The normal tide is about 1 foot, but sustained north winds can increase this to 2-3 feet.

Wow. What marina is that? (Our moorage would sand in worse than that if we stopped annual dredging,)
