Hi All, Like most C30s of this vintage, a couple of my windows leak. I would like to upgrade them and I'm sure I saw a retrofit kit listed somewhere but I can't seem to find it. If anyone knows a web site (or two) that lists this type of thing I would sure appreciate it. Thanks.

Easy to fix

Ron, The windows are relatively easy to fix. You have to remove them, clean up the old bedding compund and rebed with marine silicone. the trick is to form a bead with the silicone, insert the window and use small shims (I used some small bolts)to center the window DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SCREWS ON THE WINDOW FOR 24 HOURS (unless you use a heat lamp). this will form a gasket and you can tighten after the silcione cures. Best, Denny Fegan

leaky windows

The windows on my 1983 c30 also leaked, but the leak was between the glass and the metal frame, not between the metal frame and the fiberglass cabin trunk. My fix was to dig out the old silicone, mask off the aluminum frame and the glass and then caulk with new silicone. This worked well. Also found a leak where the aluminum seams together on the outside of the frame. A little silicone solved this problem also. I guess what I'm saying is, before you pull the whole window make sure you know where the leak is coming from. If you pull the vinyl strip on the inside of the window and there is water in the track, chances are your leak is between the glass and the aluminum frame.
