Does anyone have any information about installing a cabin heater in a Catalina 27 ? What type is best ? WHere should it be mounted? Thanks.

Force 10 works

We have a Force 10 mounted high on the port bulkhead (outside of the hanging locker). We use a stainless steel reflecter to protect the deckhead from heat damage. If it's mounted to low it will interfere with people sitting on the settee. The Force 10 has proven to be more than sufficient in all weather, it has considerably extended our boating season. We've seen other makes on the market lately that are less bulky, but I can't comment on their performance or safety. The Force 10 can sense a drop in oxygen levels in the cabin and extinquish itself if required.

Origo cans are nice for some purposes

I have an Origo can (is it a "Heat Pal" in my C27--simple, non-pressurized alcohol unit, lights easily and heats my cabin nicely. I rigged up something that will be sure to hold it in place when I'm at anchor in choppy water, but at the marina it's a simple as lighting her up and setting it on a towel. I can't see a simpler and cheaper (and safer?) alternative.
