c34 main hatch replacement

the hatch in the main salon of our c34 has seen better days and i would like to replace it. i contacted the bomar rep at a locol show and the identical replacement is over $800. has anyone replaced this hatch and if so with what? bomar has a loe profile extruded aluminum hatch for a little over $300 (more in my price range). the only problem is that the corners are more rounded than the original. is it worth it to modify the original cut out a bit by filling the corners with epoxy to make it work. any thoughts thanks al
