In checking out the official Catalina site I noticed a number of changes to the specifications for the 310 in the online (not pdf format) spec sheet. There appears to have been a bit of readjustment to the interior layout in particular along the starboard side in the galley area. I have emailed Catalina but so far no response. Has any one got any ideas as to when the changes might be coming into effect? Or has any one taken delivery of a boat that differs from the original spec sheet.

Cahnges of specs in the 310

I am not aware of the changes you allude to. I have a very early hull number and have compared my boat to a very recent hull. I found ony very minor changes. On the other hand, have you or anyone thought about how you will get at the 20 gallons of water in the hot water heater? In other words, how do you get to the full 55 gallons the boat is supposed to have.

Ch Ch Ch Changes...

I have noticed the revised information that appears on the Catalina Yachts C310 website. As to the actual specifications, some of it seems to be updated, like the engine HP, sail area, and holding and fuel tank capacity. Some of it I know is plain wrong, such as engine size (61 cubic inches for the B engine), and fuel consumption. Also, mine had double spreaders not single, a 15 X 10 prop not 15 X 9. And they must be calculating the sail area/displacement with actual area of the 135% jib and not 100% foretriangle, which is customary. Malcolm, I assume you are referring to the redrawn interior layout of the cabinets against the hull in the galley area, and the detail changes (?) behind the settees. In light of the previously mentioned points and my previous experiences with Catalina marketing materials and their accuracy, there may be some changes coming but I wouldn't get too worked up about them yet. Please let me know what you hear from Catalina. I will be checking out hull #104 if it arrives at my local dealer soon (as expected). And yes, I thought about all that water sitting in the hot water tank the first time my main tank went dry on a cruise. The specifications should not list hot water in the total capacity, but as an additional item to avoid being misleading. On the bright side, a lot of other 30 to 40 ft boats don't have a large enough hot water capacity to make much difference!

Can't speak for Catalina but...

... some manufacturers change specs for marketing purposes, as opposed to technical ones. For example, the sail area of LOA may change becuase they decide to measure it differently. I have not experienced this with Catalina, but have seen plenty of others do it. ph.
