RSN just asked about LPG storage venting on C27. I have similiar issues with my C30 MkII 1987. There is a plastic box in the stbd side of rear locker. I have resealed the vent but trying to get the lid on the box is a real problem. I tried 2 new tanks, different shape bottom on the first one. It would not fit. The second one had right shape on the bottom but was 1" higher so it would not fit either. I ended up getting the original tank recertified. The lid is still a real bear to get back in place. i am not overly confident with this whole set up. Does anyone else out there have the same trouble. Is there any fixes available? If you have pictures that would be great. Thanks Ken

Propane Locker

I have a 1988 Catalina 30 and when I could no longer get my original tank filled I modified the locker to use a similarly sized 1 gal tank. I went to TAP Plastics and purchased a length of UHMW bar stock which I then miter cut and screwed/glued to the top of the locker to allow for the extra 1" height of the new tank. The tanks are readily available and less than $35 so I now have two on board...one in the locker for use and one as a backup when we cruise.
