C30 Dodger - Where to buy?

Hi all,I'm trying to find a supplier of canvas dodgers with stainless frame for an '84 C30 in the So Cal area between Santa Barbara and Long Beach.Besides the online canvas shop here, any ideas?Thanks in advance,Jack Walshs/v StarlightC30 TRBS

Try Latitude 38

The Sail Warehouse (on the Web and in the back of Sail magazine) has standard dodgers and frames at reasonable prices-- don't know the quality, though. Latitude 38, the Northern California sailing magazine, has many ads for canvas shops and you could check prices and whether they would supply the dodger and frame without installation.

Call your local chandlery.....

or sailmaker. I'm sure you will get a number of recommendations for nearby canvas shops. Every boating community has them. Besides dodgers they make bimini's, boat covers, sail covers, upholstery etc. Anyway, the local shop will help you determine the design that best suits your needs and come to your boat to take fittings and measurements. My neighbor's Bristol 27 has a custom made dodger that is a thing of beauty besides being very well made. Expect to spend 1100 to 1500 bucks.

A Design Suggestion

When you find someone to make your dodger, consider having them fit it with a one-piece full cover rather than just snap-on covers over the windows. The top is what really takes a beating in the sun while the boat is sitting at the dock. When I had my dodger canvas replaced I had a one-piece cover made that goes over the top, front and sides. Although it used a bit more canvas, it was less labor to make so it didn't cost me any more than the snap-on window covers. I believe that I will get several extra years of life out of the dodger, plus it's less work to remove and put on.

Castro has done half of my marina. Custom fit, very competitive. Check the marine yellow pagess. Pick up one from your dockmaster. Just about every canvas worker in Southern CA is there.
