Question. I just bought a C30. It is a great boat but it has one obvious problem already. After a rain the water collects in the track of the companionway hatch. When I slide the hatch forward the water drains right into the cabin. Right on the cushions over the motor. There are two drain holes but they aft. There are no drain holes forward. Should I drill a couple small holes on the forward hatch cover or does anybody have any better ideas. This is not a big problem but an annoying one. Why I have somebody's attention what company makes an excellent dodger for this boat at a reasonable price? Thanks for taking the time to reading this and thank you even more if you reply.

Hatch Cover

I used to have a similar problem on my 30. There was no place to put drain holes so I opted to have a hatch cover made. My wife made a great cover out of sunbrella for $10. Another $10 for hardware and the problem has been solved. I use the cover constantly even when sailing. It keeps the unexpected wave out of the cabin. Offers privacy at the dock without putting in the boards. Protects the brightwork on the hatch when the boat is not in use. I really don't know why I did't get one sooner. Sean s/v Carnaby Street

Dodger

We sell 'em here on this site. Go to the store & check it out. Compare to canvas shops in your area & they're probably right in line, if not less expensive. LaDonna

Thanks

Thanks LaDonna, I found the dodger after I had already asked on the forum. Looks like I might have to order one. Sean thanks for the input. I don't have a wife but I have a few friends that are handy with sewing machine. How did you attach the cover to the deck?

Hatch cover

The hatch cover is attached to the fiberglass. Five snaps on the top over the wood so it will hang down and cover the hatch when the boards are out. I used two snaps on each side on the glass to cover the side boards. Doing this, you can snap all of the snaps except one from inside while the boards are out. Hope this helps. Sean
