C27 mainsheet rigging

My recently purchased C27 has the mainsheet running through a rope clutch on the starboard side, not my preferred setup. I'm thinking of putting on a camcleat with an extreme angle fairlead forward of the winch to control the mainsheet. Opinions? Suggestions for installation?

Keep it and leave it open when sailing. I replaced the clamcleat on our boat when I bought it 'cuz the fairlead from the clamcleat to the winch required two hands! Yes, I know, a clam cleat and a cam cleat are different things, but the concept's the same if you have a bad fairlead.

OTOH, your boat, your choice.
