I am designing a radio panel to flush-mount my electronics and would like to match the interior wood on our 1980 C27. what type wood (mahogany)? and I'm wondering if it might be easiest to see if anything is available from the factory. it appears to be stained considerably darker than what I'm seeing on new boats. I did find that the MinWax 'Gunstock' stain is a close match.

thanks .. daniel

I believe our 82' is teak. I replaced the port bulkhead with teak ply and used a mahogany stain and cetal- it matched pretty well

I'm referring to the wood trim around the starboard-side shelf and general interior trim. the bulkheads are considerably darker as I recall (I'm traveling and not on the boat). it could be teak but it looks like mahogany to me. it's not critical but a close match would be grand. thanks ..

I'm pretty sure that it is teak. I just added some teak to mount my led lighting on and it matches perfectly. I am varnishing the wood on the inside of the cabin. I did the companionway hatch cover yesterday and it looks beautiful. I was getting tired of oiling it every 2 weeks and still having it look like crap. The rest of the cabin is starting to look dark and old.

Yes, the newer boats have lighter wood. You didn't say what year your boat is.

I did say our boat is a 1980 C27 ... tall-rig, diesel, almost like new :)

My 81 is all teak and i recently replaced both bulkheads with teak ply and red oak stain followed by cetol and the match was perfect.
