I'm looking at a 74 C27. The boat is in pretty good shape, dinette interiorior. I'm curious about anyones impressions of the 27 for extended cruising. Thanks in advance, Shawn

Where to?

For serious replies you really need to give us a little more info. Where would you be cruising? What does "extended" mean to you? How many people/animals? Etc, etc. Cruising the ICW? Sure, no problem. Cruising the South Pacific? Weeeeell, that might be stretching it. I have a 73 C27 & love her to death. I upgraded her last year (paint job, rebedding deck hardware, stuff like that) & sail her on the Columbia River. I think she has plenty of room for two (smallish) people and is plenty fast for me. Personally, I would want an oven for extended cruising but if you're just talking about a week or two at a time, you should make out fine without one. Keep us posted. LaDonna

Cruising

I have a Catalina 27 This past summer I took a week long trip and everything was great. I have to agree with LaDonna in that you have to understand the limitations of the boat. I am planning a 100 mile trip down the coast for next season but only about 4- 5 miles offshore so that I can duck inside if I have. Good luck they are really terrific boats Charlie Gruetzner
