Recently I purchased a Mirage 24 that lost its mast last year. No damage to boat other than snapped mast. I was wondering if I could replace mast, with a few adjustments, from a Tanzer 22. Shrouds would have to be replaced, mast head and foot from Mirage fit properly. Is about 8 inches higher than old mast. Can I use as replacement mast. Any help or advise is appreciated.

I would - you should be Ok as long as you set it up as closely as possible to the old one.

This looks like a fun rabbit hole to wander down and play...

Just for fun I started by looking at the 2 boats specifications. They appear on the surface to be similar. Both were developed in Canada. They participated in MORC and Class racing. They appear to have been developed to meet a market of sailors that were not supported. That mid range of buyers who wanted a "pocket Yacht" in the low 7m size of boat. More than a day sailor, not quite an ocean cruiser.

With this quick look the similarities of the boats would say "Why not give her a try".

I would examine the masts of both boats. Looking at thickness of metal, hardware attachments, how the sail will fit on the new mast, the standing rigging materials, etc.

If all that does not send you running to the boat shed, it seems like a reasonable experiment to explore. I note that the makers of the Mirage played with the mast as they built their boat. They added and subtracted as much as 0.46m to the mast length. If they can do it, it sure seems that you should give it a try.

I look forward to hearing about your success. Pictures. Who knows may be this hobby will create a career change... Yachtsman engineer.

Good Luck.
