Mast Replacement
I don't think the spars are "wearing out" and I have not heard of many problems. I recently painted my '83 Cat 30's mast and boom. The anodizing had deteriorated and I had corrosion around all the fittings. Most replacements that I have heard are from corrosion around the base and anywhere stainless steel and aluminum had contact. Around the spreaders, mast top, and fittings. Standing rigging should be checked with dye to look for crevis corrosion. My boat still has the original rigging, but it is recommended to replace it after 10 years.Check the thickness of the extrusions and if it is not too thin or badly corroded then a good prep and paint job should last many seasons.Fair winds...
