Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to sound harsh. All questions are welcome.Stu Jackson said:While somewhat harsh (perhaps) there is some merit in the concept of doing some research. In addition to books, there are some very good websites that include information that would helpful to you.
One of the good basics is this one: http://www.boatsafe.com/
For instance, I just Googled "sailboat parts names" and there are lots of hits on just what you are asking for.
Good luck, hope it all works out for you.
Ventilation is key. Solar powered hatch vents do a great job. If you have shore power, West Marine makes a fan designed to circulate slightly warmed air around the boat. Help with mildew as well.Looks like I'm going to purchase boat. How do you keep the condensation down inside the boat?
Broker didn't know of D&R Marine.Going to have to replace solar fan and maybe front hatch. The condensation was just from tempwture change, boat is in good shape and owner fixed the main issues prior to purchase. Broker said finding a front hatch could be a problem. Will replace it because the dogs are broken. However it doesnt leak so it doen"t have to be done anytime soon.
