Buying and cutting G10

McMaster-Carr sells G10, I bought a sheet to use for backing plates for thru hulls. I can’t speak to the price point versus Defender but I recommend shopping around. An industrial supplier might be cheaper than a marine supplier.
G10 is not that hard to cut I used a Sabre saw to make circles, but it was really tough to shape it to the curve of the hull.

Use unthickened epoxy to laminate the G-10 layers and thickened epoxy underneath to bed the new post level.
Rough up the faces for better adhesion.

Wet tile saw makes quick work of G10, plus you can contour each piece as you go on a wet tile saw w/o risking loosing a finger.

I am curious as to how thick of a mast base are you trying to make ?
Not sure this Q was directed at me; but the larger the base the better. It's not just the bottom of the bilge that supports the mast, it's the vertical sides as well, so the higher the better.
