Wow is all I can say..

I'm in the process of purchasing a canvas winter cover for my Catalina and after reading about these guys I'll be searching elsewhere. Mr. McGovern will get what he deserves. The internet gives power back to consumers, good and bad.

TCS Passed....

....on my offer to settle for $1500. No word from them in any form, and nothing showed up at my house by 7PM yesterday. Of couse I'm sure he's down in Annapolis for the show. I'd be very curious to know if anyone stops by his booth there and says they're not buying from him because of how he treats his customers, and what his response is. I wish I could have gone this year, but I couldn't make it happen. Tim

You will LOVE this..

I was at the Annapolis boat show yesterday visiting all the tents to see what they had. Low and behold there is the "Canvas Store". He has one person with his back to aisle, don't know who was working the booth but he was facing the aisle. My wife start looking at the models and covers and tells me to come over for a look see. I turn around and realize who this is.. I take one look, see it is the "Canvas Store" and state alittle on the load side. "No you don't want anything to do with them. They are the people who are not standing behinh their product and being discussed on the web site". We then walked away. Should have seen the look I got from him and he kept looking at me as I worked my way up the aisle. Jim S/V Java

You can spam the the crap out of them

here is the link to their website contact page. http://www.thecanvasstore.com/contact.htm. I know it is not the best think to do and could possibly backfire litigation. However if this is a grass roots spam attack, Possibly there is no problem. You might want to post the entire thread on sailnet.net also. Fair Winds Cap'n Dave

Did I mention spam ?

I thought I posted this earlier but, mr thinks the message is floating in cyberspace. Here is the link to TCS's website http://www.thecanvasstore.com/contact.htm Go to the contact us page there it asks what you think of us. There you can tell them waht you think. You can also post this on sailnet.com forums another good site. Fair Winds Cap'n Dave

You might want to try Boatswains Locker, They do GREAT work and so far have been very customer savy. They built a dodger, bimini, and complete cockpit enclosure for my boat. Just about everyone in our marina startrd using them after they saw the work they did for me. All mine are made from 1" stainless tubing with Sunbrella. I am not kidding you can stand on it. Give them a call and tell them Cap'n Dave from Green Cove Springs Marina told you to contact them. Fair Winds Cap'n Dave

don't just walk by, stop and tell them!

make sure they know why you're not doing business with them! As a former satisfied customer, I certainly won't use them again after this.

where?

I haven't had time to troll other sites, just curious where this topic is getting attention? Anyone out there get any info from him at Annap? I'm sure anyone challenging him directly will get some song and dance about how I wasn't installing it correctly, or his 100% satisfaction guarantee that he'd make it fit my boat. Tim

TIM, YOU SAVED ME FROM A MISTAKE

I HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT A C30 THAT NEEDS ALL NEW CANVAS. TSC HAS ADVERTISED IN THE CATALINA MAINSHEET MAGAZINE FOR YEARS. I WOULD HAVE PLACED AN ORDER THIS WEEK HAD YOU NOT WARNED US. THANKS!

Another Buyer Going Elsewhere

We bought a C-25 in March of this year and will be needing to replace the bimini soon. You can bet we won't be using TSC then or any time in the future. Wish I could be at the boat show to say the same at the booth.

My Estimate Was Off....

I stated earlier on this thread how a well-publicized $1400 shafting can conservatively translate to a $14K loss. Based on all the canvas needs of various boats mentioned on this thread which will for certain go elsewhere, I'd be willing to bet they've lost out on $40K or more to this point. Keep the pressure on until they pay. At least in my jurisdiction, refusal to pay a judgement can result in contempt of court, which is jail-able depending on the mood of the judge, size of judgement, and ability to pay. What poor business.
