Hope others out there can assist with a couple questions...

I am in process of replacing both bulkheads(rotting chainplates) on a 1981 C27. I have successfully removed the port side bulkhead, took my time, and it came out in one piece which will serve as a great template. Along the top of the bulkhead and the hull side, there is some brown gasket material which is also in need of replacement. Anyone know where I can obtain that? I will also be needing that for the starboard side.

Second, for the starboard side, I'm leaving the post in place, but wondering if there are screw connections made to the post itself inside the head area. I can easily access all the screws hull side and top/bottom, but wonder how the bulkhead is attached to the post? Also, is there a way to get this out without removing the head?

Appreciate help in advance....

Tom, the gasket is to prevent the bulkhead from squeeking against the hull. I used self stick window foam strip from Menard/HomeDepot when I did my port side in my 79. Don't know about the starboard side. Also some drain holes in the wet locker will help keep the bottom of the bulkhead dry.

I replaced all the bulkheads on my '77 and left the post in place. I don't recall any screws that interfered with the post. I was able to remove the aft stbd blkhd with out moving the head, but the PO had removed the head door.
