Recently a member here suggested I "buff-out" my boat paint to perfection. I thought one could only buff gelcoat. I have a buffer, does anyone know what type of polish/wax I would use to get the perfect smooth surface without ruining the paint?
You don't want to use a fiberglass buffing compound as they are too aggressive. Instead use a buffing compound designed for paint. Not sure what paint you have applied, but usually professionals use Awlgrip on boats. Awlgrip makes a compound called Finesette. There are a few different choices as one is for freshly applied paints (like within 3 days) and the other is designed for applications that have been applied long ago. There are other compounds to be found for paint as well.
