You're welcome guys. That's data can be very interesting to have, but is normally only available if the designer ran the hull/boat design through a VPP (velocity prediction program) as part of the design. Sadly Hunter never seemed to do this, or at least never shared the data with owners.

It IS possible to get it a VPP run as a boat owner, via a rating agency, US sailing can do it, or often better is ORC. Although my first 260 cam with VPP data, I had the boat rated for racing and it includes both polar data as will as AVS ( also called LPS (limit of positive stability)) numbers, a decent 109.4. To give you an idea of what you get for your 150 bucks, I attached my cert.

The actual technical explanation is to think of your boat as a woman. Be gentle with her and she'll respond just the way you want her to. Push her too hard and all hell breaks loose.
Kermit,
I can't help it to ask if you have for your technical comparison some kind of chart too. It would be helpful for the ones without experience in that matter to know where, by the degree of pushing, the point of varnishing stability is reached, the point where she begins to realize to be better off without you. I am not sure if you should ask her.

So far my experience with the H26 vs Mac/Ven 25 has been positive. Apart from the vast improvements in creature comforts I.e. Enclosed head, roomier cockpit and cabin, full size double berth, etc. I have been impressed by the handling so far. The boat likes to sail at 5 degrees but 15 degrees is still very comfortable. Even at 25 degrees I did not feel unsafe and the boat starts to head up beyond that angle. I have the after market, large rudder so it is not necessary to fight the tiller to hold that heel angle. It is very balanced. With the water ballast the boat is about double the weight of the Venture 25. This additional weight is very noticeable especially in how it handles the chop, no more slapping on the waves. Overall, inspire of my initial concerns, I am very pleased with the handling and consider it a considerable upgrade.

So far I have been spending a ton of time on my newish boat.. Have been having a great time on her and been trying to keep the heel to less than 15degrees. Camped out for a few days a couple of times and must say I have really been enjoying her. Not as tender as I thought, handles waves really nice and of course, very comfortable. Just trying to think of what to do with that huge table. Thanks all for the positive reports.

Each boat is built to specifications as required not only by the CG but also liability insurance marine carriers. However I chose the practical approach with my customers that this boat was designed for the trailerable sailor for comfort sailing, not for racing although with some suggestions, it can be raced which I did successfully. I know of charts and so on but for practibility, go out and enjoy the boat with friends and family.

Willemvan, about that huge table...

Here's what I did. Many have cut down the table. But if you still want to use it spun around for the v-berth than this is what I did. The white brackets (HomeDepot shelf bracket uprights) stay attached to the table at the pivot screw. The cut-off piece stays under the v-berth cushion and is attached as needed. The plywood "U" is put under the table base to lift it up just a bit. Use a router to recut the slot in the new table front, cut down the white plastic piece and re-insert. It takes about 3 minutes to add or remove the cut off piece as needed. Our son is 6' 2" and needs the room.

I have kept my table in the 'bunk' possition since the day I bought it new. There is more than enough room for the two of us to eat and it gives so much more room in front of the sink.

I use the space betwen the table and the forward seat for towel and jacket storage.

I've had my H26 for almost a year. Love it. Sail several days per week and have had few issues with the boat. Painted the bottom this spring. Little growth on the bottom so far.
