When I bought my H30 a little over a year ago I transferred and continued its documented vessel with USCG. I doing so I changed the name and finely getting to changing it on the boat being that I'm going out of my bay for my first multi day trip with my dad and brother.
So to the question..... what is the traditional procedure to keep Father Neptune appeases being that I changed the name? We will be performing said procedure on our first night at Captain's Hour.

The traditional method has its merits, but you can't truly perform all the necessary rites in one night. You have to completely wipe all records of the old name from the face of the Earth before performing the final rituals of asking (bribing) Poseidon to strike the old name from his ledger.
I don't remember the words, and Champaign is apparently important. I suspect Poseidon is actually a beer drinker and probably a fan of good dark rum too.

I, however, have come up with a far less complicated method of appeasing Poseidon and successfully changing a vessel's name without having to track down lost documents and bribing government officials. https://forums.sailboatowners.com/index.php?threads/the-practical-renaming-ceremony.188929/
This method relies of your being in tune with Poseidon and understanding that he's really just a regular guy who loves the same things any sailor would love - drink, etc. Have fun.

Remember Mike you have a bit of an issue. You are a Pacific NW owner. I’ve heard that you may need to also track down a First Nation Shaman to assure that you won’t be attacked by whales. They for some reason can be confused when the see a boat with a name not properly blessed.

Don’t be this guy.

I think there is a guy up on Whidbey. He was the one that called the whales to help celebrate the first Langley April Whale parade back 8-9 years ago.

How does Aquaman fit into the picture now that he has Poseidon's trident? He definitely prefers beer!

Aquaman may enjoy , but the Kraken demands rum.

That guy didn't give the Kraken rum when he changed the name of his boat. He thought it was silly and besides, the Kraken can't get you if you're on fresh water, right?

Man, transfering the docs with USCG and my $300 finally paid to Anacortes Marine Service to do it should meet the intended. It took me about 9 months to get it done. But I like the dark rum idea.
