I have Amica..

I have Amica and so does Tim R. another forum member. I have never used or needed towing insurance and I seriously doubt Tim R. has either. I'm sure it's good Amica is a great company..

I have Amica too.

They are great! I've had 2 claims over the past 15 years and they never batted an eye about the estimates and paid quickly. Never used the towing. I think I would leave that to SeaTow or similar operation.

Amica towing is reimbursed

Pick your towing company and Amica pays for it. No limitations. They would rather pay $1000 to tow it than have it abandoned or sunk. I have been insured by Amica for auto for 25 years and I have had a few claims. Never a hassle. They simply pay you and then get their money from the other guy's insurance. Once they totaled a vehicle of mine(a beloved Audi coupe) and I thought their value was too low so with a few photos to prove the excellent condition, they raised the value $2,500. And best of all....No Agents to deal with;-) You speak directly to the company. Tim R.

Does your policy cover Enviornmental clean-up?

I have read a copy of the Yacht Policy but I see no mention of Enviornmental Clean-up. Someone at AMICA is currently checking into that for me and also clarification on the included towing.

Good question DB

I am not sure. Certainly let me know and I will also check on my end. I would be surprised if they did not. They really do cover all the bases. BTW, I will be sans internet in the mountains of Vermont for a week. Happy sailing to everyone. Tim R.

AMICA

I have been an AMICA customer for over 3o years. In that time I had one auto accident and lost a boat. They did not give me a hard time about either issue. In fact, when we lost the boat in a hurricane, they found money in our homeowners policy (also with AMICA) for personal possesions on the boat. They are a great company and very competitive in rates. Remember that it is a mutual insurance company so the profit at the end of the year does not go to shareholders, it goes to the policy holders as a rebate of premiums paid.

Good point Bob

My annual policy costs about $900 and I usually get back about $200. Tim R.

Amica answer..

Here's the answer on environmental damages straight from Amica copied and pasted from the email they sent me. Quote Amica: "I checked with my underwriter for you. If your boat sank and the diesel tank leaked, your policy would provide coverage for the environmental damage. Have a great day!"

Enviornmenal damage

Amica told me it is on page 6 of their yacht policy, listed under the insuring agreement. Says they will pay up to the liability limit. Still looking for written clarification on the towing, soft grounding etc.
