Blue smoke

When I comissioned my boat 2 weeks ago the engine fired off without a hitch and ran smoothly. Yesterday she fired off rough and was putting out blue smoke which went away after a min or two @1500rpm. Will this go away with use(wishful thinking) or is there a mechanic in my future.87' M-25xp

Blue smoke is an indication of burning oil. Since it occurred while the engine was idle for two weeks the oil may be leaking into the cylinder through the valve guides. As long as the smoke is not excessive or does not occur while underway I think you are okay for now.Tim
