Blisters on Catalina 320

I am looking at buying a 1995 Catalina 320. I just had it surveyed and found over two dozen large blisters on the bottom of the boat. I was wondering if blistering is a problem for this vintage of boat.

While the boat was hoisted I also saw a lot of caulking around connection point between the keel and the boat. The guys at the ship yard called it the Catalina smile. Is this common terminology and is there something that should be or could be done to fix it.

I appreciate any of your input as I will be making my decition in the next couple days.

You should not find a "Catalina smile" on a C-320. Finding one suggests evidence of a hard grounding or of improper maintenance of the keelbolts to me. It should also be repairable without inordinate expense as the keel/hull connection is very substantial on the C-320.

There were aproximately 40 or so hulls built with a blister issue in an intermediary layup layer...not the typical osmosis blistering found in fiberglas layup...follow the link below for some extensive information.
